By far the most successful team in the 125cc class in Britain in the last two years has been Team KRP (Keen Race Preparation), founded at the end of the 2004 season by Buckingham-shire race engineer Mark Keen. Mark has guided several young riders to success in the British Championship and launched two teenage stars on their way to full-time rides at world championship level.
Teenagers Dan Cooper and James Westmoreland finished champion and runner-up respectively in the British Championship in KRP colours in 2006, and Anthony Rogers won the ACU Cup. Ben Tye was also a regular front-runner and Irish schoolgirl Nicole McAleer scored points and gained vital experience.
Westmoreland was also runner-up in 2005, missing out on the title due to a piston failure in the last round despite dominating the series for much of the season, and 14 year old Keen discovery Bradley Smith won BSB rounds before being released to ride in the MotoGP academy under the wing of Dani Pedrosa's manager, Alberto Puig. In 2006 Smith becamse a regular points scorer in 125cc Grands Prix.
Robbie Stewart: 15
Naturally talented Scottish teenager Robbie Stewart is a proven winner at BSB level and is competing in the British Championship for the second year. A former minimoto ace, Stewart joined KRP at the end of 2006 and rode well in the final rounds of the ultra-tough Spanish Championship. A definite title contender, Stewart smashed the Brands Hatch GP circuit lap record in the opening round of the 2007 championship.
Anthony Rogers: 16
A tough and determined former schoolboy boxer from Norfolk who has only been riding bikes for two full seasons. Joined KRP in 2006 and won the ACU Academy Cup after struggling to qualify the previous year. A consistent front runner so far in 2007, Rogers aims to retain the ACU Academy Cup and to be battling for championship podiums at every round.
Nikki Coates: 18
An intelligent young Ulsterman from a famous racing family. Nikki's father, brother and cousins have all been winners in road racing at the highest level and Nikki is set to follow in their tyre tracks. A solid points scorer at BSB in 2006, Nikki has now stepped up to become a major force in the championship.
Tom Hayward: 24
Tom Hayward has been on the road racing scene for five or six years and has been a steady improver throughout his career. Hayward had a solid and consistent year in 2006, finishing fifth in championship and a better package in 2007 has seen the Lincoln rider continue to move up the standings despite riding through injury in the early rounds of the championship.
