My next race was at Assen in Holland on the 25th April with Triumph SC, I found out that I was the lone rider in the Superstock 600 as my Team mate Tom stayed at home. I got on with the task in hand and went out to learn yet another new track - I knew this would be a challenge.

My confidence was now building on the Triumph 675 and I was getting to grips with the handling and power which is so different from my 125. I felt qualifying was hard as the pace was very fast, and I ended up in 15th position in the first qualifying session with a 1'47.479. I then went out in the second qualifying session with used tyres to get the feel of the bike sliding about as this will happen in the later part of the race. Half way through I came in to pits to change to new tyres, to put a good lap together but when changing to new tyres this led to problems with replacing the front wheel. I was stuck in the pits for an extended period of time whilst the session was ticking away (not good news!). Eventually my mechanics got the problem solved and I got two laps on my own with no one to push me.

In the race on Sunday I got a good start but got boxed in at the first corner. That allowed the leaders to get a gap and I had to fight my way through more experienced riders. However I was getting vital experience and building my confidence with the bike. I finished in 17th position and was very happy with this as this was still only my second race on the Triumph SC 675.
