Brands Hatch Indy (12/13/14 October)

Robbie Stewart ended the season with an impressive fourth consecutive podium finish in the 125GP series at a sunny Brands Hatch Indy circuit - and with it secured a clear second place in the 2007 Championship.

With the title race having been decided at the previous round, Robbie went into the final race weekend facing a battle with fellow Scott Kev Coghlan for the runner up spot. As so often this year the Bridge of Earn teenager was quickly on the pace, and during a damp first free practice Robbie fought through heavy traffic on the short track to take second place on the time sheets. Second free practice on a dry track saw lap times drop dramatically and Robbie finished the day with a best time of 50.543s and 3rd position overall.

Conditions for Saturday's two qualifying sessions were almost perfect, and although Robbie took the KRP Honda to 3rd in combined qualifying, he would almost certainly have bettered his time if he hadn't been impeded by a slower rider when on a final flying lap.

Sunday morning warm up proved that Robbie's race set up was spot on, and he finished the session on top of the time sheets with a best lap time of 49.52 seconds.

Starting the race from 3rd place on the 40 strong grid, Robbie for once made a poor start and found himself struggling to fight his way through back to the front of the pack. Having just fought his way back into contention, a crash brought out the safety car then the red flags, and the riders were left facing a short 8 lap sprint to decide the final round.

As the lights went out for the restart, Robbie was again slow to take off, but Kev Coghlan faired much worse as he failed to get the UK1 bike off the line and was forced to retire. With the pressure of fighting for 2nd in the Championship removed, Robbie was able to relax and made up for his start with some forceful riding. It looked like he would be adding to his three recent wins, but he just ran out of laps and had to settle for 2nd place, just 0.019 seconds behind series winner Luke Jones.

Robbie would like to thank all of his sponsors and friends for their help and support throughout this year.
